INSOMNIA MINECRAFT EXPO 2013 (30/11/2013)

OK everyone this blog I'll be talking about something different than music and toothache gel lmao, OK now let's get to business. On Saturday 30th November me and my brother in law went to the Insomnia 50th expo, I found out about the expo while looking for STREET FIGHTER TOURNAMENTS in the West Midlands area, after not finding any TOURNAMENTS  I saw a link to the Insomnia website, I clicked it and read up about it, and saw it was in Telford which is only an hour from where I live. The ticket price was £10 and after the day we had, I would have paid more, it was really great value for money. So me and my brother in law brought tickets because we love games, Jason (brother in law) is a more hardcore gamer than myself, at the moment I'm pretty much obsessed with SUPER STREET FIGHTER 4 and CALL OF DUTY BLACK OPS 2 but I do enjoy playing other games. So me and Jason left my house about 9:30 AM and got to Telford for about 10:20, we found the place we needed to go and traffic was crazy and then we got turned around and told to drive to a car park just up the road, because the car park at the expo was already full. So we drove to the car park we were told to go to, which was only two minutes away but was very muddy and the car was skidding all over the shop, not great if your into cosplay or just have some nice shoes. Me and Jason had to walk down a muddy path and through a local park but only took us about 5 minutes to get to the expo, which was ok. But my poor Doctor Martin's boots were a little muddy but that was all forgiven when we were walking into the hall, as we only had to line up for about to 2 minutes to get our wrist bands and walked on in, at first thoughts it looked kinda small but to my surprise the centre was massive, 3 rooms of pure gaming goodness, one room for tournaments and contests, one for stores and retro game consoles and modern consoles also and the last room was filled with pc's as far as the eye can see.

Well the first thing we did at insomnia was check out the stores, like I said i'm really into street fighter, so i was looking for anything to do with street fighter I could buy. There wasn't as many stores as I thought there would be, but to be honest that was kinda a good thing because I would have spent all my hard earned money. All the stores have something for everyone and the prices were quite good. But before me and Jason could buy anything we had to play some games, I won't be able to remember every game we played because we were there about 8 hours, but as you can probably guess I played a lot I mean tons of street fighter and other fight games. After playing some different consoles we walked to the end of the room where some tournaments were being played, as I can remember rightly there was call of duty ghost, FIFA 2014 and battlefield 4, I did not enter in any tournaments because for one I'm not very good at football games and also I have not played call of duty ghost or battlefield 4. I know everyone that isn't into first person shooters will say they are all the same but to me they aren't, with every game I have to find my classes, weapons that i can use well. We also saw a station just for minecraft and a pretty big line of small children wanting to play, again I can't play minecraft I have no idea what I'm doing also I find it a little boring. Me and Jason went to see if we could play on the xbox one's, to our surprise there was no line, probably because it was 18's and over and most the people in the room were children. There were six xbox one's, and I chose to play battlefield 4 which for the life of me I could not get into, while Jason played Rome. My first thoughts of battlefield were not the greatest, played for about 10 minutes and I could not figure out what to do, my team in the campaign would not move, maybe I was doing it wrong but I did not enjoy it. I watched Jason play Rome which looked quite good, I may have to buy it when I have the money.

I then came across a store that was selling t-shirts and bags, also mugs with cartoons of film characters with day of the dead skulls. The lady who worked at the store asked me and Jason if we would like to win something all we had to do was like their pages on facebook, so I did, Jason doesn't have facebook so he could not have a go. After liking their page they handed my an ipad with a spinning wheel on, and what ever it landed on I won so I did it, Jason said you better win a t-shirt and guess what I did.

I did not see how much she was selling these t-shirts for but check out BadNCrazy on facebook.

While at the expo I found a little store full of retro games and consoles, I can not remember the name of the store, I think its because I was lost in the games they were selling.
Here is some items I found that I had to buy.
*I paid £10 for this best deal ever.

I brought this for £10 like I said in the caption best deal ever, my brother in law Jason told me this game was rare, so I thought I best get it before someone else grabs it, I also brought it because it had Street Fighter characters in it and I love Street Fighter. <3

I also got this.
*I paid £5 for this item

Another Street Fighter buy!

*I paid £6 for this item.

I saw this and just had to buy it, I used to own a Super Nintendo back in the day, I just wish I still had it so I could play this, but lucky for me Jason still has one.
After buying these the sales person gave me some sweets which was pretty good.

If you thought I was joking about loving Street Fighter I was not.

Another store I spent money at the was PLANET FUNKO. Two sales girls came up to me and Jason with an ipad and a Santa's hat, they told us if we signed up for their news letter, we could pull something out of the hat and we could win a free eye ball key ring, 10% off any item at their store or a free figure. The company sell POP! VINYL FIGURES. So I gave it a go and I won 10% off so I brought this.
*Normal price £10 i paid £9.

I got this because I love STAR WARS too.

After walking around for a bit and playing some games and eating chips which were OK not the best I have ever had but OK, I paid about £5 for two large chips and a bottle of coke. (what they call large I call small) a lot of money for what we got. But anyway we went back to Planer Funko and I signed up again with an old email address, and also Jason did we both won the 10% off, Jason did not want his so I asked if I could use both on one figure but the sale person would not let me, but he gave me a free eyeball key ring.
*I have no idea the price sorry.

I did use my 10% on this for my girlfriend which she loves.
*Store price £10 i paid £9.

Here is the last thing I brought
*I paid £8 for this item.
I brought the Lambretta calendar because I have a love for anything 60's such as the mod style, scooters music fashion etc.

I'm pretty much done now sorry this blog turn more about Street Fighter than the actual expo but I love it so there lol. I really think everyone should go to next years INSOMNIA expo, it has something for everyone; including young families, older families, a day out with the mates, hardcore gamer's and part time gamer's, but also once in while gamer's.

Thanks for reading.
